The Buy Kratom Bible: Strains, Types, Guides & More

What is Kratom?

Kratom is an evergreen tree naturally occurring and grows best in humid and hot environments without cold winters and fertile soil. It is part of the flowering plant Rubiaceae family. Mitragyna speciosa is its botanical name. Customers in the U.S. often buy Kratom cultivated in Borneo, Vietnam, Bali, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. It’s easy to see this plant has quite a few origins.

The leaves of this plant are what have gained much attention. They are said to produce cocaine- and opiate-like effects. When consumed in low doses, and energizing (stimulant) effect develops. Consuming Kratom in higher doses produces sedative and analgesic results. The sleep-inducing and pain-relieving effects note this. It acts on the same receptors that opioids do.

Other Names For Kratom

Thom, Mitragyna speciosa, Kraton, Kakuam, Thang, Mambog, Krathom, Ithang, Nauclea speciosa, Maeng Da Leaf, Ketum, Gratom, Nauclea, Madat, Kedemba, Cratom, Mitragynine Extract, Kratum, Katawn, and Biak-Biak.

Kratom is indigenous to New Guinea, the Philippines, and Southeast Asia, but it’s original home in Thailand. People have been using Kratom for centuries for religious, recreational, therapeutic, and medicinal purposes.

Historical records show Kratom used by southern Thai and northern Malaysian laborers like rubber-tappers, farmers, and fishers, similar to how we use coffee today. They either smoked, chewed, or made tea using dried or fresh leaves to increase productivity and fight fatigue.

We know of usage in Thailand for socio-religious ceremonies and for treating various medical conditions, including morphine dependence. Other reports describe usage in rural areas for self-treating medical problems like pain, fever, diarrhea, diabetes. These people asl used the plant as a poultice for wounds.

When heroin and opium were in short supply in Malaysia, addicts would buy Kratom as a safe alternative. Ancient Buddhists used it for both meditation and healing purposes.

A Dutch botanist by the name of Pieter Willem Korthals was the first Westerner to record Kratom’s written record. From 1831 to 1836 hee was the official botanist of Dutch East India Service, a shipping and trade company. Korthals assigned Kratom to the Mitragyna genus based on the fact that the stigmas of its flowers and the leaves had a similar shape to the bishop’s miter. British surgeon George Darby Havilandhe confirmed the description made by Korthals in 1895.

The British lecturer, botanist, and curator Edward Morrell Holmes also noted Kratom use as a substitute for opium in 1895. English naturalist, geologist, and botanist named Henry Nicholas Ridley documented Kratom’s ability to act as an alternative to opium for individuals seeking to find relief from their drug addictions in 1897.

How Kratom Interacts with the Human Body

Kratom contains phytochemicals (active compounds in plants) that interact with opioid receptors belonging to the opioid system, which controls addictive behaviors, reward, and pain.

There are three opioid receptor classes: kappa, delta, and mu (κ, δ, and μ). The primary alkaloids that Kratom contains are 7-hydroxy Mitragynine and Mitragynine. They are partial agonists at the mu-opioid human receptor. These active chemicals are also the competitive antagonists at the deltoid and kappa opioid receptors. Whenever the alkaloids bind together with the opioid receptors, they release neurotransmitters that produce the dose-dependent effects for which Kratom is so well-known.

At low doses, Kratom strains alkaloids bind with the Kappa opioid receptors. The neurotransmitters produce stimulating effects. Pain-relieving effects require a high dosage of Kratom that ensures alkaloids will successfully attach with MU receptors in the brain. Once the alkaloid binding process occurs, neural transmitters will react with MU receptors to produce analgesic effects necessary for a pain diminishing result.

Strains and Veins: How to Classify Kratom

Kratom is grouped in two primary ways: strain type and vein color. Strain groups’ names come from their origin regions. Ketum leaf powder is exported, cultivated, or originated from these Asian countries.

Mitragyna Speciosa continues to gain popularity in our culture faster than information about it can spread. Consequently, the names of the best Kratom strains have remained the same as what our historical ancestors gave them.

Strains are differentiated further by vein color, characterized by the vein that runs down the middle of a Mitragyna Speciosa leaf. There are three vein color classifications: White, Green, and Red.

Popular Kratom Strains

1. Thai Kratom

Named after Thailand, this Kratom type originates from Southeast Asia. It is known for its pain relief, increased focus, mood-lifting, stimulation, and energy effects. Thai is often considered the best Kratom for sale, partially due to its low number of associated side effects.

Thai Kratom comes in White Vein, Green Vein, and Red Vein strains.

Thai White Vein

This version of Thai produces moderate euphoria and highly stimulating effects.

Thai Green Vein

It offers balanced mood enhancement, energy boost, and pain relief effects.

Thai Red Vein

Powerful sedating and pain-relieving effects are associated with Red Vein Thai.

2. Indo Kratom

Known as Indonesia’s primary strain, this Ketum is prevalent among active users compared with other strains. Its popularity derives from Indo Kratom’s meager number of side effects associated with it.

Effects include mood-enhancing, sedation, relaxation, decreasing opiate withdrawal syndrome, and pain relief.

Indo Kratom comes in White Vein, Red Vein, and Green Vein (sometimes called Super Green).

Indo White Vein

This strain produces analgesic effects, and out of all three of the vein colors, white has the highest stimulating effect.

Indo Green Vein

This strain produces potent relaxing and pain-killing yet very mild stimulating effects.

Indo Red Vein

Users should expect calm, mood-lifting, and analgesic effects while taking by this strain. The red vein is the most sedative form of Indo.

3. Malaysian Kratom

This type of Kratom is often called Malay and gets its name from Malaysia, a country in Southeast Asia. Its long-lasting effects have made this strain popular among users with a busy lifestyle. However, Malay strains offer a different experience depending on the dosage. Consider how much product you plan on taking before you buy Kratom from the Malay family.

At a low dosage, users can expect a euphoric and energetic effect from taking this Kratom. Customer reviews also report improvements in endurance, stability, stimulation, and focus at lower doses. When taking Malaysian in higher dosages, users can expect relaxing, sedative effects.

Malay is available in White Vein, Green Vein, and Red Vein strains. It is known as a potent strain, so keep doses to a low or moderate range to avoid overly sedative effects.

Malaysian White Vein

This strain is considered the most energetic and stimulating Malaysian Kratom strain, even in high doses.

Malaysian Green Vein

Green Malay Kratom, often named Super Green Malaysian, comes from large leaves known to have more than 40 alkaloids making the strain very potent. It has moderate to high focus and pain relief, balanced energy effects, and high mood-enhancing and anxiety relief qualities.

4. Borneo Kratom

This type of Kratom gets its name from Borneo’s island, which is the world’s third-largest island, and Asia’s most significant. This strain has high concentrations of 7-hydroxy Mitragynine, making it one of the more sedating strains. Its medicinal qualities include temporary depression relief, insomnia relief, anxiety relief, stress relief, mood improvement, addiction treatment, and pain relief.

Borneo Kratom comes in White Vein Borneo, Green Vein Borneo, and Red Vein Borneo strains.

White Vein Borneo

It is a powerful stimulant and produces milder euphoric and painkiller effects.

Green Vein Borneo

This Kratom strain generates balanced, stimulating, euphoric, and painkiller effects.

Red Vein Borneo

This strain produces mood-enhancing qualities, calming effects, soothing effects, and highly pleasurable relaxation.

5. Maeng Da Kratom

Many people prefer to buy Kratom from the Maeng Da strain because it is specially grown and considered to be among the most potent strains for sale. It is unclear what its specific origins are, but it has been narrowed down to Indonesia and Thailand. Maeng Da in Thai is the name of Leothocerus Indicus, which is an edible water beetle. When translated from Thai, it means “Pimp.” Therefore, the strain is referred to as “Pimp Grade” by some people.

The strain of Kratom has dark-colored leaves. When powered or crushed, the color intensifies. Analgesic properties are a lesser-known feature of this Kratom. Maeng Da is best known for its stimulating and energizing properties that help mitigate the sedative effects of such a potent strain. It prevents fatigue, improves concentration and memory, enhances enthusiasm and stamina, and reduces depression symptoms.

Effects are produced in phases and known to last for as long as 8 hours. The initial effects occur within 10 to 15 minutes, and generally, after about 45 minutes, a euphoric peak is achieved. Sedative effects are felt after 2 hours usually.

Maeng Da Kratom comes in Green Vein, White Vein, and Red Vein strains.

White Vein Maeng Da

Refreshing and energizing, and often use for promoting restful sleep and treating insomnia.

Green Vein Maeng Da

It improves overall mood and emotional balance.

Red Vein Maeng Da

Compared to White Vein and Green Vein, Red is the most euphoric and sedating.

6. Bali Kratom

This type of Kratom has the most classic opiate-like effects out of all of the different strains. Beginners are highly recommended to buy Kratom with Bali as the dominant strain. Its name comes from Bali, an Indonesian island, and is found growing today in Malaysia and Thailand.

It is one of the easiest to produce and fastest-growing strains. For quite some time, these two factors were responsible for making it the most dominant strain in the entire market. It is the most popular strain for users due to its high potency content combined with its shallow price point compared to other strains of Kratom.

It has broad, dark-colored leaves that provide both sedative and pain-relieving properties. At low doses, it produces a euphoric effect and may boost levels of energy. It has a more relaxing effect when taken in high doses. It also can act as an anxiolytic, offer relief from opiate addiction and withdrawal, and modify appetite.

Expect effects within 15 to 30 minutes of being consumed. However, this fast onset results in outcomes that last a maximum of 4 hours. Therefore, blending this strain with Indo Kratom or another long-lasting strain is recommended.

Bali Kratom comes in White Vein, Red Vein, and Green Vein strains.

Bali White Vein

Produces calming effects without sedating.

Bali Red Vein

Great for pain relief, but does have a strong sedating effect as well.

Bali Green Vein

It provides pain relief and reduces anxiety and stress but without sedating effects. It is less potent than White Vein or Red Vein strains.

Strains by Color

White Vein Kratom

This strain is known for its positive mood-enhancing and stimulating effects that prevent fatigue, boost energy, and increase concentration and focus, especially for more complex activities.

Coffee drinkers buy Kratom from the white vein family as a replacement for their caffeine habit because it doesn’t come with jitters and other side effects.

Green Vein Kratom

This strain combines the best qualities offered by White Vein and Red Vein. Its stimulating effects are lower than White Vein Strain, and its sedating effects are more moderate than Red Vein Strain.

Green Vein is an ideal strain for people trying Kratom for the first time and a must-have product for alternating with to avoid building tolerance and reduce dependence. It also is used for easing social discomforts due to its balanced effects. For an even milder effect, consider making Kratom tea.

Red Vein Kratom

This strain is among the most widely available and best-selling strains. Its amount of 7-Hydroxymitragynine Alkaloid is higher than average, making it a highly effective painkiller, particularly for chronic pain.

Also, the strain produces the highest sedating and calming effects that might be preferred by beginners.

Red vein varieties of Kratom have various properties and effects. Some strains like Red Vein Borneo and Red Thai contain sedative effects, whereas elated mood effects occur with Red Sumatra types.

Enhanced Kratom Strains

These strains of Kratom have had their potency either improved or intensified by the addition of pure alkaloids or Kratom extract.

Only minimal doses are needed to experience their effects. With large doses, side effects such as dizziness, headaches, and nausea are common.

These strains are very popular with people who have built a tolerance up to regular once. However, they tend to be priced on the high side and can be challenging to obtain. So if you buy Kratom with enhanced properties, consider it unsuited for daily use. Save these strains for a rainy day.

1. Enhanced Red Horned Kratom

Enhanced red horn is a slow reacting strain based on how long it takes to experience the effects. Users do not seem to mind because it also has long-lasting effects, often up to 8 hours. Users report that the strain provides a mild to pronounced boost in energy, increased relaxing sensations, reduced anxiety, improved mood effects, and positive feeling of well-being.

2. Enhanced Bali Kratom

Enhanced Bali is a refined form of the traditional Bali strain and produced when resin extracted from large Kratom leaves mixes with the untreated organic powder. It is reported by users that the strain increases energy, raises mood levels, helps control stress, and allows for social development and personality building.

3. Enhanced Maeng Da Kratom

Maeng Da alkaloids with a 99% purity rating are added to the base crop of this strain to produce its “enhanced” effects. Users report that the strain provides psychological and emotional support, stimulation, analgesic, relaxation, and mood enhancement effects. The strain is expensive and not readily available at most online websites.

4. Ultra Enhanced Indo Kratom

These varieties have around 1500 mg of pure alkaloids added to the kratom strain. Users report that the effects produced include severe sedation feelings and an intensive euphoric sensation.

Active Constituents of Kratom

Do some research before buying Kratom to ensure you only purchase from a reputable and licensed seller who offers quality strains.

4. Purchase more than a single strain

Alternate between strains as a way of avoiding building up addiction and tolerance to Kratom whenever there is not an option for limited use due to having severe symptoms. If you plan on using Kratom for an extended time, purchase multiple strains.

5. Check for lab testing

Review the lab testing reports, particularly from FDA licensed, third-party labs to help you confirm the Kratom’s purity levels in addition to the alkaloids that it contains. The reports should be available either by request or on the company’s website. Find another seller if there are no reports available.
